The university has been chosen by the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity ( ) to be a Higher Education (HE) partner for the scheme which aims to enable employability for sport and physical activity-related degree programmes.
The goal is to finalise a full endorsement and recognition process and once this is in place, qualifying CIMSPA HE partners will be offered priority access to CIMSPA-approved provider status.
Professor Jonathan Doust, Head of the university’s School of Sport and Service Management, said: “We’re proud to have been chosen for this two-year pilot project. Being a CIMSPA HE partner recognises our national standing in delivering sport courses and this will also offer many benefits to students.
“In addition to being invited to CIMSPA guest lectures, all sport and exercise students will receive student-affiliate status with CIMSPA.
“This offers a range of benefits including support to develop skills and improve employability to facilitate a smooth transition to the workplace, access to selected free recognised eLearning through the CIMSPA Academy, and access to graduate work placement, volunteering and internships opportunities.”
