Wednesday 3 December 2025 6pm at the Bevy Community Pub

Speaker: Dr Nick Gant

There is growing evidence that making is actually good for our health and wellbeing, particularly when we make together.

This talk will look at how Brighton craft and design academics have developed different maker-spaces to support communities through different types of making. From a garden shed in care home residents and through Covid, whittling chairs in the woods with ex-offenders and making virtual versions of Brighton in Minecraft with young people across the city - we will explore how making might make you well, whilst also making some Christmas cards at the same time!

is co-director of the Centre for Arts and Wellbeing at the Â鶹´«Ã½, with a life-long interest in making and design for wellbeing and sustainability. He has led many funded projects to improve the lives of communities in Sussex, nationally and abroad.
