Description: | Granted to a full-time undergraduate student who has a demonstrated involvement in ensuring equitable and inclusive access to food and/or physical activity. Preference will be given to a student in the Foods and Nutrition or Kinesiology programs. Applicants must demonstrate in their personal statement how they fit the criteria for this award. |
Background: | This award was established by Dr. Katherine Gottschall-Pass, professor in the Applied Human Sciences department at the Âé¶¹´«Ã½. Dr. Gottschall-Pass obtained her BSc (Nutrition & Consumer Studies] from St. Francis Xavier University, a Dietetic Internship from Victoria Hospital in London, ON and a PhD in Human Nutrition from the University of Saskatchewan. She is a Registered Dietitian who worked in research and development for the food industry and taught at St. Francis Xavier University prior to joining the Department of Applied Human Sciences at Âé¶¹´«Ã½ in 1996. In March 2019, Dr. Gottschall-Pass was appointed Interim Vice-President, Academic and Research, a position she held for four years. She has a special interest in supporting students in various areas of need at Âé¶¹´«Ã½. Dr. Gottschall-Pass was instrumental in leading the development of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ CRC EDI Action Plan and the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ EDI Strategy. This award will acknowledge AHS students who have an interest in supporting equity and inclusive access to food and/or physical activity. |
