The following message was distributed by email on July 9, 2021, to students, staff, and faculty on behalf of the Office of the Vice-President Administration and Finance.

Dear Members of the University Community,

Today, during a regular COVID-19 update, the PEI Chief Public Health Office (PEI-CPHO) lifted the mandatory requirement to wear masks in indoor public spaces in the province.

Therefore, as of 12 noon Friday, July 9, 2021, the Â鶹´«Ã½ updated its guidance on mask wearing, moving from a mandatory measure back to a strong recommendation, which aligns with the current guidance from the PEI Chief Public Health Office:

Â鶹´«Ã½ strongly recommends that a non-medical mask be worn in Â鶹´«Ã½ campus buildings when a physical distance of two metres/six feet (2m/6ft) cannot be maintained.

Â鶹´«Ã½ continues to work with the PEI-CPHO in developing and updating its COVID-19 guidance for the 2021 Fall Academic Semester and will communicate updates and post them to Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s Response to COVID-19 website as they become available.

Sincerely,

Jackie Podger
Vice-President Administration and Finance
